Today, the Scandinavian airlines has announced that they will be putting many of their operations on hold by Monday, the 16th of March 2020 for a period which was not definite. The website of the airlines has said that because of the coronavirus and the measures which have been implemented by the authorities nationally, the demand for the air travel is not existent virtually. The SAS has therefore made a decision of putting most of their operations to a halt starting 16th of March and the till the necessary prerequisites for the returns of commercial air traffic.
For supporting the customers, they are going to be in a few days do their utmost for upholding a particular level of the operation for enabling travelers to be able to return from the destination. The information regarding the situation of traffic and the specific flights are going to be updated on tier websites and the passengers who are affected are going to be notified. The time for waiting at the call centers is going to be very long. They have also asked the passengers to call them if their flight was supposed to depart in the coming 3 days.
The world has seen many airlines cut their capacity, SAS has now taken to a different approach as they have acknowledged the demand being almost non-existent and have been saying that they basically will shut down until there is further demand.
They did not opt for giving time to monitor the situations in the coming days however this is all they will do
